Confirmation is a teenager standing up and saying the faith is theirs now, not just their parents’. The right verse for the card treats them like the adult they are becoming: no baby verses, no lectures, something they might actually keep. These were chosen with a fourteen-year-old in mind, which means short, honest, and not embarrassing to be handed in front of a grandmother.

“He who began a good work in you will complete it.” For the teenager who suspects they are not sure enough, good enough, or done enough. The verse says the work is in progress and someone else is finishing it. It takes the pressure off a day that can feel like a test.

Jeremiah 29:11. In every second confirmation card, and it was written to exiles about a seventy-year wait. A teenager handed it as a promise of prosperity will notice when sophomore year is hard. 2 Timothy 1:7 was written to a young person about exactly this.
