Waiting for results is a specific kind of hard: nothing to do, no news, every phone call a possible verdict. These verses are for the in-between days. One of them is literally about not being afraid of bad news.

The next verse adds 'I will not be afraid,' which sounds like a contradiction until you see it as a sequence. Fear arrives, trust is chosen, fear loses its grip. Then it arrives again. The peace that follows guards your thoughts, which during a wait like this run in circles. 'In everything' is the key phrase for a wait like this, because the mind produces a new scenario every hour. Each one can be handed over in turn. Peace that 'surpasses understanding' means it can come before the results do.
Psalm 46:10
“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth.”

'Be still, and know that I am God.' In context it's said in the middle of upheaval, with nations raging. Being still while waiting for a result isn't passivity; it's a decision to stop rehearsing outcomes. The knowing is the anchor.
Isaiah 26:3
You will keep whoever’s mind is steadfast in perfect peace, because he trusts in you.

'Perfect peace' for the one whose mind is fixed. A mind waiting for results is the opposite of fixed; it jumps between scenarios. This verse names the alternative: keep bringing the mind back to the same place. Isaiah wrote this as a song for a city under threat. The word for 'stayed' means propped up or leaned. A mind can't stop imagining outcomes, but it can keep being leaned back onto something steadier than the next phone call.

Wait for Yahweh. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Yahweh.

The whole psalm is David steadying himself, moving between confidence and fear. It ends here, with waiting as the last word. He doesn't say the waiting will be short or that the news will be good. He says it can be done with courage.
Romans 8:26
In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don’t know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can’t be uttered.

Memorize Psalm 112:7. It's one sentence, and it's the one you'll want when the phone rings. If you can't pray in words, Romans 8:26 says that's fine.
