The first week of a new job is a strange mix of hope and dread: you wanted this, and you have no idea where the bathroom is. These verses are for that week and the month after, when you are still proving yourself. None of them promises you will be a star. They say who you are working for, who goes ahead of you, and how to hand the outcome over.

“I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.” The verse everyone sends on the first day, and it was written by Paul about being content whether he had plenty or nothing. So read it the way he meant it: not “I will crush this,” but “whatever this job turns out to be, I can be all right in it.” That is a better thing to carry in on day one.
The one I’d leave out
Jeremiah 29:11. On more first-day cards than any verse, and written to exiles about a return seventy years off. Sent to someone starting a job it reads as “God got you this for your prosperity,” which sets them up badly if the job is hard. Deuteronomy 31:8 says the true thing: someone goes ahead of you.
What to say with it
“You’re going to be good at this. Text me after.”
“Nobody expects you to know anything the first week. Ask every question.”
Check in on Friday of the first week, not Monday. Monday they’re fine; Friday they’re tired and doubting.
Don’t say: “Don’t be nervous.” Say: “Nervous is right. It means you care.”
